Plans are well underway to have golden times this fall with continuing celebrations at the Yarmouth County Museum and Archives, as it continues to recognize its 50 years of incorporation.
Art & Prose closes for this year
Sunday, Sept.14 from 2 to 4 p.m. marks the closing hours for the “Pairings” Art Exhibit: a collaboration of Yarmouth artists and writers. A second round of writers will be reading their prose inspired by the “new” paintings that have been on display for the past few weeks. Light refreshments will be served. No admission unless a tour of the Museum is requested.
Hear! Here! Group presents…
Soprano Sally Dibblee and pianist Robert Kortgaard will be in performance at the Yarmouth County Museum on Monday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m. The duo is presented by Hear!Here! in Yarmouth, a newly formed committee comprising local music lovers who believe people in southwestern Nova Scotia shouldn’t have to travel to enjoy classical musicians in performance. ‘Inside & Out’ opens inside
The official opening of “Inside and Out” – an art exhibit by local artist Jennie Morrow opens on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. This exhibit of oil paintings will feature many new works by the artist. No admission. Light refreshments will be served.
The First Coin & Currency Road Show
Modelled after the popular TV show with antiques, Yarmouth’s first Coin & Currency Road Show features appraisals and purchases by numismatic experts Olmstead Currency from St. Stephen, New Brunswick. This is the chance to find out if those old coins (and/or paper bills) from any country in the world might be worth a small fortune…and Olmstead Currency

Large coin collections will also be appraised for free, but appointments must be made for these longer evaluations. Phone 902-742-5539 to set up an appointment. Tasting some of Nova Scotia’s best wines
Multiple award-winning Domaine de Grand Pré Wines from the Annapolis Valley will be coming to the Yarmouth County Museum to conduct a tasting of its various vintages, including the popular L’Acadie Blanc, Maréchal Foch and one of its icewines. Domaine de Grand Pré wines

The Yarmouth County Museum and Archives are open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Oct. 12 (closed Thanksgiving Day, Oct. 13); and fall and winter hours begin on Oct. 14 when the museum and archives are open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday only from 2 to 5 p.m.
Admission prices range in price, with lower fees for students, children and seniors. Adult admission is $3 to either the museum or Pelton-Fuller House (or $5 to both). Fees to use the archives are upon request. Phone 902- 742-5539.
