Sentenced to time in custody

The court has sentenced James Phillip Corbin, 18, Kentville, to a period in custody for three counts of failing without lawful excuse to comply with conditions of an undertaking by which he was bound and for stealing property from a store of a value not exceeding $5,000.

Corbin entered a not guilty plea June 16, 2008 to one charge of failing to comply, but changed his plea to guilty Aug. 27, 2008. Corbin entered guilty pleas Aug. 27 to the two other counts of failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking and entered a guilty plea to the charge of stealing property from a store.

Corbin was sentenced to one month in custody for one count of failing to comply with his undertaking; one month in custody for the second count of failing to comply with his undertaking; one month in custody for stealing property from a store; and 30 days in custody, to be served concurrently, for the third count of failing to comply with conditions of his undertaking, for a total of three months in custody on the four charges.

Corbin committed the offences of failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking in Kentville May 20, 2008; New Minas July 15, 2008; and New Minas Aug. 22, 2008.

He committed the offence of stealing property of a value not exceeding $5,000 from a store, Zellers Incorporated, in New Minas Aug. 22, 2008.

Sentenced to custody, fined

The court has sentenced Barry Kimberly Rawding, 32, Aylesford, to a period in custody and has fined him for uttering death threats; unlawfully failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking and a probation order by which he was bound; the included offence of mischief interference; uttering a threat to burn property; willfully damaging property; resisting a peace officer; assaulting a peace officer; illegally possessing liquor; possessing tobacco on which tax had not been paid; and possessing unmarked tobacco.

Rawding entered not guilty pleas April 14, 2008 to charges of willfully damaging the property of an individual to a value not exceeding $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order by which he was bound, but changed his pleas to guilty on the two charges Aug. 27, 2008.

Rawding entered guilty pleas Aug. 27 to two counts of uttering death threats; two counts of failing without lawful excuse to comply with conditions of an undertaking by which he was bound; two counts of failing without reasonable excuse to comply with a probation order by which he was bound; one count of the included offence of mischief interference; one count of uttering a threat to burn the real property of an individual; one count of resisting a peace officer engaged in the execution of his duty; one count of assaulting a peace officer engaged in the execution of his duty; one count of illegally possessing liquor; one count of possessing tobacco on which tax had not been paid; and one count of possessing unmarked tobacco.

Rawding was sentenced Aug. 27 to a total of 10 months in custody on 12 of the charges. He was fined a total of $230 for illegal possession of liquor; $287.50 for possessing tobacco on which tax had not been paid; and $287.50 for possessing unmarked tobacco. He has been given until Aug. 24, 2009 to pay with no default.

The court imposed a five-year firearm prohibition against Rawding and granted a secondary DNA order in relation to the two counts of uttering death threats and the charge of threatening to burn property.

Rawding committed the offence of willfully damaging property and one count of failing to comply with a probation order in Aylesford Feb. 8, 2008.

He committed one count of failing to comply with a probation order, one count of failing to comply with an undertaking, the offence of resisting a peace officer, the offence of assaulting a peace officer, the offence of illegally possessing liquor and the offences of possessing unmarked tobacco and tobacco on which tax had not been paid in Aylesford July 6, 2008.

He committed the two offences of uttering death threats, one count of failing to comply with an undertaking, one count of failing to comply with a probation order, and the included offence of mischief interference Aug. 20, 2008 in Aylesford. He committed the offence of uttering a threat to burn property between July 14 and 16, 2008 in Aylesford.

Probation offences

The court has sentenced Derrick Michael MacNab, 28, Aylesford, to a period in custody for two counts of failing without reasonable excuse to comply with conditions of a probation order by which he was bound.

MacNab entered guilty pleas to both charges Aug. 27, 2008. The court sentenced MacNab to 15 days in custody for each offence, for a total of 30 days.

MacNab committed one of the probation offences in Kentville between May 27 and July 2, 2008 when he failed without reasonable excuse to comply with a condition of a probation order by which he was bound with respect to reporting as directed.

He committed the other probation offence in Kentville June 16, 2008 when he failed without reasonable excuse to comply with a condition of a probation order by which he was bound with respect to attending counselling treatment for alcohol, drug or substance abuse as directed by the probation officer.

Drove while disqualified

The court has fined Pamela Margaret Blanchard, 20, Kingston, for operating a motor vehicle on a highway while disqualified from doing so by reason of the suspension of her driver’s license.

Blanchard entered a guilty plea to the charge Aug. 27, 2008. She was fined a total of $500 and has been given until Aug. 24, 2009 to pay with no default.

Blanchard committed the offence in Kingston June 28, 2008.

In other court matters…

The court has fined Ashley Gale Veinotte, 28, Wilmot, for operating a motor vehicle while not wearing an available seatbelt.

Veinotte entered a not guilty plea to the charge April 28, 2008 and the matter was adjourned to Aug. 27, 2008 for trial. Veinotte was not present Aug. 27 and the court entered an automatic conviction on the charge.

Veinotte was fined $164.50 and has been given until Sept. 27, 2008 to pay with no default.

Veinotte committed the offence March 3, 2008 on Main Street, Kingston.
