Caledonia RCMP satellite office soon ready
A satellite RCMP office in the Caledonia Visitor Information Centre will be up and running once a security clearance is complete.
The letter of understanding was signed by the Queens RCMP detachment, North Queens Board of Trade in Caledonia and Region of Queens Municipality.
“Now what we have to do is, because of limited space, the manager at the tourist bureau needs to share our office in there,” says Queens RCMP Staff Sgt. Bruno Deveau. “So in order to accommodate we need to have a security clearance done on her.”
All the forms are completed, but the process takes time, he notes.
“It’s going to be an office that officers when going up north can stop in for their work,” says Staff Sgt. Deveau.
He hopes to have the office ready within a month.
“Once she’s cleared then basically all it is for us is to get a computer there and we’ll put a lock on that door,” he says.
One of Staff Sgt. Deveau’s future goals involves having “a volunteer that may want to work there for us and the volunteer can take calls, can take complaints and maybe fill in accident reports.”
