Dr. Norm Dray
AVRSB Superintendent retires
Lavinia Parrish Zwicker, Annapolis Valley School Board Chair, announced today that Dr. Norm Dray, Superintendent of Schools, will be retiring, effective Feb. 28, 2009.
Parrish Zwicker said she is saddened by the news that Dray will be leaving his position, but she expressed appreciation on behalf of the Board for his dedication and commitment to the students of the Annapolis Valley. She feels he has accomplished much while in his current role. Parrish Zwicker congratulated Dray on his retirement and wished him well for the future.
Dray joined the AVRSB in August 2005 upon the retirement of Dr. Jim Gunn. He has been active in the community and has offered strong leadership to the Board and to the schools. Partnerships, collaboration and a focus on what is best for the learning of the students were hallmarks of his tenure with the Board.
Dray has been a visible presence in all educational communities within the region and has served on numerous provincial committees and advisory boards.
The Board will initiate a search process in the near future and hopes to ensure a smooth transition to the administration of a new superintendent.
