Seniors’ complex needs elevator, says Theriault
Liberal MLA for Digby-Annapolis Harold Theriault is calling on the province to provide funding for installation of an elevator at the Melanson Manor seniors' complex in Weymouth.
The absence of an elevator has restricted the mobility of some residents and creates unwarranted safety issues, says Theriault who has asked Community Services Minister Judy Streatch for her department’s assistance.

Using stairs in the complex is unacceptable for seniors with mobility issues, said the MLA, and he said government should stand behind its commitment to seniors so they can live comfortably and maintain the highest degree of dignity and independence.

"The residents at Melanson Manor have given so much to their families and to their communities. We need to ensure that they are living in a safe and comfortable environment in their later years. We owe them that much," said Theriault.
