Diversion funds forthcoming
A cheque for advanced diversion credits in the amount of $23,105 will be issued by the Resource Recovery Fund Board (RRFB) in the next four to six weeks to the Municipality of Barrington and the Town of Clarks Harbour.
MoB’s portion is $20,678.

The final calculation for 2007-2008 will be determined upon review of a final submission in the late fall.

The funds will be used to offset the cost of municipal solid waste collection and disposal including the C & D Landfill.

Diversion credits result from the 10-cent deposit that consumers pay for bottles.

Consumers can return refundables for five cents each, but the balance of the deposit is collected by RRFB, which directs diversion credits to each region annually.
