Progress is being made in the establishment of a business park in Barrington Passage.
A temporary borrowing resolution for $250,000 is scheduled to be brought forward at the Aug. 11 Municipality of Barrington council meeting for approval. The funds are seed money for providing sewer and road access to the 17-acre lot, owned by the municipality, which is located behind the old Barrington High School.
Team Shelburne, a group of leaders and community members from the five municipal units that make up Shelburne County, has directed the South West Shore Development Authority to provide a proportion of the funds remaining from the sale of Shelburne Place to the Municipality of Barrington (MoB) for the developing the business park. MoB’s percentage was originally $201,000.
MoB warden Louise Halliday says that may not be the amount they receive.
“The monies may not be $201,000 as the total figure may have changed. We used a total figure quite some time ago,” she said.
“However it will be our portion as agreed by Team Shelburne.”
Legal details pertaining to the business park lot are being finalized and the warden says work will soon begin with the construction of the road and extension of sewer to the property.
