Over 20 Port Williams and area teens converged on the library Aug. 21 for a four-hour Teen Game and Anime marathon.

Episodes of Black Cat and Peach Girl played continuously throughout the afternoon for those who enjoy anime as other teens played Mario and Wii Sports. Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution had them dancing and jamming in the Youth Room.

Pop and a variety of snacks kept everyone going until a supper of pizza. Head of Youth Services Librarian Angela Reynolds held prize draws throughout the event, giving away audiobooks, comic books and an anime DVD.

There’s a lot going on at the library this summer. Every Wednesday during the summer, there will be a Kids' Camp at the Library from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. for kids ages 5-8. The theme for Aug. 27 is Backwards Day and kids are encouraged to wear backwards clothes.

They will learn about palindromes, draw with their wrong hands and watch some interesting videos of things being done backwards such as singing.

A Teen Lounge will be held every Thursday night throughout the summer from 6:30-8 p.m. Come along to hang out and play computer games. This week will be an anime night.

For anyone interested, the Library is offering one-on-one computer tutorials on topics such as Internet Security, Digital Cameras, or any other topic of interest.

Greenwich United Church: The Wolfville Pastoral Charge will hold its first-[ever Farmersgolf Tournament Sat., Sept. 27 at Hennigar’s Farm, with a shotgun start at 2:30 p.m. This fundraising event has room for 20 teams with a cost per team of $60. There will be fabulous prizes and a dazzling array of spectators to cheer on the teams.

Those not golfing can participate by sponsoring a hole for $10, which gives you the honour of having your name displayed at the hole and the option of sitting there to supervise and cheer on the teams.

Entry forms for teams and sponsors are available at the church office or from coordinators Liz Vermeulen (681-0061) or Heather Hennigar (542-9530). Come and enjoy the experience!
