Lightning strike causes house fire
A lightning strike has been determined to be the cause of a house fire in Falmouth Aug. 19.
Windsor and Hantsport crews worked with haste to knock down the blaze, which broke out through the roof and into the second floor of a log home at 1771 Rt. 1 in Falmouth.
Windsor Fire Chief Fred Fox said a passerby first noticed the flames around 2:30 p.m. coming from the roof of the building after a severe lightning storm went through the area.
Areas of the building suffered smoke and water damage, Fox said. “However, there was no one home at the time of the fire and no injuries were incurred while fighting the fire.
“The fire was quickly contained to the area of origin,” Fox added.
