After serving two terms as Mayor of Windsor, Anna Allen will not be re-offering in the upcoming Municipal elections.
Windsor to lose key political player in next election
Anna Allen will not re-offer as Mayor
One of the key political players in Windsor/West Hants has decided not to reoffer. With municipal elections just around the corner, the big question is who will stand this October and perhaps, more importantly, who will sit at the helm in council.
After 23 years serving the citizens of Windsor, Mayor Anna Allen will not reoffer in the next election. Allen offered this written statement to The Hants Journal today, Aug. 20.
“Recently, some personal issues have forced me to re-evaluate my decision to run. I recognize the need to make some changes in my life. I am also looking forward to exploring other life opportunities. It has been an honour and a privilege to represent Windsor. Thanks to all who have supported me over the years. I will be forever grateful.”
Allen served as a school board member from 1985-1991; town councillor from 1991-2000; and Mayor from 2000-2008. In 2000, she was elected President of the Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities and in 2005, chair of the UNSM Women in Local Government committee.
