Wrestlers primed to make anticipated return to Windsor

The last time MainStream Wrestling Entertainment (MSW) came to Windsor in April, the show drew the largest crowd for any MSW event ever held in the town and the largest paying crowd to see a live pro wrestling show in Windsor in the last quarter-century.

The promotion has announced that it will make its anticipated return to Windsor Friday evening, Aug. 29. On the heels of the most successful event ever staged in the town, owner and promoter Devin Chittick, who wrestles as “X-Ray” Kyle Kruze, the five-time Atlantic Canadian Champion, says fans can expect an action-packed card.

Chittick said fans will hear a special announcement regarding a future event in the town. All the regular talent will be on hand for the August event, including Kruze, who will defend the championship against an opponent yet to be named; “Lumber” Jack Johnson; “The Iron Tiger” Mike Fraser; Johnny “Scotia” Colon; Killer Bee; and more. Kruze has successfully defended the title against competitors from all over North America and is looking forward to finding out who his challenger will be in Windsor.

Kruze said newcomers “Commercial Free” Sexton Phoenix, “Hard Nosed” Haggerty, the elusive Tristan Strife and high-flyer Alexander Saint would be part of the line-up. Hants County native “Captain” Kirk will return as ring announcer.

In a special return bout from February, Fraser will battle Colon in a falls-count-anywhere match. Other bouts will be announced that evening.

Historic evening

Chittick said it was a great experience to wrestle in the first steel cage match ever held in Windsor this past April.

“Windsor has always been very supportive of MSW and we worked so hard to get the product to the level it has come to today,” Chittick said. “It was mentally and physically exhaustive as well as very exciting being in such a ground-breaking match, especially alongside such a great partner like ‘Kowboy’ Mike Hughes. I want to thank everyone for coming out and making it another historic evening for the company.”

He said there’s more to come and pro wrestling fans in the area should attend the August show to see first-hand what he means. The promotion is innovative and different, which has helped keep the show fresh even after an eight-year run. Chittick said many new concepts and angles have been introduced over the years to make sure it never goes stale and the creative well is far from running dry.

“There’s a lot left to explore over the next several years,” he said. “It’s an exciting time for us right now. I said nearly eight years ago we were the future of Maritime wrestling and we are living proof of that today. MainStream Wrestling Entertainment is the number-one pro wrestling circuit in eastern Canada and the busiest in the country, and I like it that way.”
