Kentville Library Friends launch membership drive with lunch
Kentville area readers can lunch for their new library.
The Friends of the Kentville Library are holding a membership drive – in fact, two events, Friday, Aug. 22, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
For $5 people can become a member of the Friends of the Kentville Library and have lunch on the group.
There are two simultaneous events: in New Minas, at Transcontinental Media/The Advertiser offices on Commercial Street, beside McDonald’s; and in Kentville, on the lawn next to the County Law Courts, on Justice Way. There is plenty of parking behind the Law Courts.
Paid membership will: help the Friends leverage the government for more dollars to build your brand new library, and it gives the donor a voice in the process.
Participants can feel “you’re among friends” and marvel at how good it makes them feel. It’s an opportunity to share in the creation of something wonderful and to experience the incredible connection friends enjoy, as they participate in the process of building their new Library.
In order for the project to reach its full potential and to leverage potential donors and grantors, the Friends need to build their paid membership numbers.
Everyone who joins is making an investment in the community as well as in the new Library, which will be a benefit for all residents and business owners, now and in the future.
Being a Friend means a person knowing they are making a real contribution to ensure that their library remains a vital presence in the community, a place of pride not only for individuals, but for businesses and entrepreneurs who understand and embrace the value of enhanced literacy and the social and economic value it brings.
Those interested can come on over for a hot dog and a drink, acknowledge the community sponsors and get involved. Or they can drop their membership fee off at the Kentville Library, The Advertiser or K-Rock 89.3.
Membership fee is $5 -- or $10 for family or $25 for corporate membership -- and lasts for the whole project.
