Yarmouth town RCMP report
During the timeframe of Aug. 4-13, the Yarmouth town RCMP detachment received 53 calls for service. This included four 911 misdials/hang-ups, four mischief complaints, three traffic convictions, four assaults, three theft under $5,000, three fraud investigations, one shoplifting complaint, four causing a disturbance, four false alarms and 13 other Criminal Code complaints.
The following is a summary of some of the calls for service:
•Aug 7, 3:17 a.m., received a noise complaint from Hood Crescent of loud music coming from a residence, officers attended at the scene where a get-together was occurring, asked that the loud music be turned down, the owners complied.
•Aug. 7, 11:50 a.m., received a 911 payphone hang-up from Water Street. Officers attended and located a family from out of town that informed the officers a five year old had dialed 911 and the family was very sorry for the call.
•Aug. 7, 2:04 p.m., received a 911 call from Starrs Road reporting an industrial accident in which an employee was injured. Officers went to West Nova Industries to assist the Department of Labour. The injured person was transported to the hospital by EHS.
•Aug. 7, 10:44 p.m., report of fighting in the parking lot of Shoppers Drug Mart. Officers attended, subjects were gone on arrival.
•Aug. 8, 10:33 p.m., received a call from Caie Crescent of possible gunshots heard in the vicinity. Officers were unable to locate anyone or the origin of the sound.
•Aug. 10, 2:32 a.m., received a call from Cliff Street of a person trespassing at night. The complainant reported that someone was outside their bedroom window. A patrol was made but the police were unable to locate anyone.
•Aug. 10, 5:30 a.m., officers responded to a complaint on Cliff Street. Noticed a male staggering who was determined to be very intoxicated. The person was arrested for being drunk in a public place, lodged in a cell and released the following day.
•Aug. 12, 2:13 p.m., received a call from Clements Street of property damage to a residence. The exterior handrails had been broken off of an apartment building. No suspects.
•Aug. 12, 8:58 p.m., officers received a call via 911 of a disturbance at Captain Kelley’s where it was reported that an assault had taken place. Matter is still under investigation.
•Aug. 13, 1:37 p.m., received a complaint of a theft at the YMCA. A dress shirt and a BlackBerry had been stolen from a locker. Still under investigation
