Margaretsville wins $50,000 national Kraft contest
Community hall selected from thousands of entries
Margaretsville Community Hall is a winner. The girls got the good news from the national Kraft Savour Summer contest Thursday and were in high spirits as they digested the information over lunch and looked forward to receiving the $50,000 prize and the big party Kraft will be putting on in the little fishing village on the other side of the North Mountain along the Bay of Fundy shore.

The contest was for community spaces that bring together children, families and friends and promote fun and physical fitness. Entries were judged on three criteria: community spirit, overall need, and originality.

Margaretsville Community Hall was nominated by Sherry Nichols, Pat Lawson, and Erla Ritz. Nichols said they decided to nominate the hall and adjacent park after reading about the contest in What’s Cookin?

Kraft received thousands of entries from across Canada.
