Origami craft program returns to Yarmouth library
The adult craft program at the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library kicks off with origami from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, in the program room.
Michelle Blauvelt will teach participants about basic folds and help them complete projects to take home. The featured project will be folding a pinwheel.
There is no pre-registration necessary for this program. The adult craft program will take place the first Thursday of every month between 6 and 7:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 4. For more information, contact library clerk Karen Doucet at 742-5040. The library is located at 405 Main St. in Yarmouth.
Book club returns to library
Following a brief hiatus, the book club is returning to the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library in Yarmouth.
The club will meet from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. on the second Monday of every month beginning Sept. 8 in the program room at the library to discuss various books.
At this first meeting members will make book selections for the year. All are welcome.

Library reducing video/DVD loan periods starting Sept. 2
Western Counties Regional Library is reducing its loan period on all of its video and DVDs to one week beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2.
“We have found that there is a great demand for our videos and DVDs,” says Regional Library Director Trudy Amirault. “By reducing the loan period from three weeks to one week, waiting times for these materials will be reduced and we can better serve our patrons.”
The changes will not affect videos and DVDs borrowed before Sept. 2. For further information contact your local branch of Western Counties Regional Library or visit

Investment seminars to be offered at library
A series of investment seminars conducted by Neil Rogers of Edward Jones will be on tap over four Tuesdays in September at the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library. The series runs every Tuesday from Sept. 9 through 30 from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. in the program room.
Building a Strong Financial Foundation is the Sept. 9 program. Rogers will introduce the basic concepts behind the Edward Jones investment philosophy, discuss the relevance of these concepts to investors, and explain the role of the financial advisor as a useful resource to help people put these concepts into place as they invest to achieve future goals.
On Sept. 16, Your Financial Goals helps participants understand the value of a five-step asset management process, identify all monetary sources available, and prioritize one’s financial goals.
If You Can’t Predict, You Should Prepare is the third program running on Sept. 23. This program explains market cycles to help participants prepare for any future downturn in the markets.
The seminars finish up on Sept. 30 with Making Sense of Stock Investing. The program explains how stocks fit into a diversified portfolio, explains different ways to invest in stocks, and how brokers can help identify appropriate stock to investors.
There is no pre-registration necessary for any of these programs.
