Clare to mark National Acadian Day as festival wraps up
Organizers of the 53rd Festival acadien de Clare invite everyone to join them in celebrating National Acadian Day on Friday, Aug. 15.
Mayann E. Francis, the lieutenant-governor of Nova Scotia, will be present during the day’s activities, which will start with the flag-rising ceremonies at the municipal office in Little Brook at 9:30a.m. This event will be followed by the Assomption mass at Major’s Point chapel, Belliveau Cove, at 11a.m.

The day doesn’t end there. At 6 p.m. it’s the Tintamarre, where vehicles will head towards the Club Social de Clare for the closing concert, starting from three departure points (Saint Bernard Church, Meteghan fire station, and DJ’s Corner store in Salmon River).

Here everyone is invited to join in and make noise as a way of showing their Acadian pride.

Prior to an evening concert at the Club Social de Clare the lieutenant-governor will present Clare with the Community Spirit Award. This will be followed by a night of entertainment featuring Beauphare, Zarico, JP LeBlanc, Swing, and La Baie en Joie.

To purchase concert tickets visit any of the four branches of the Clare Credit Union, or contact the festival office at (902) 769-0832 or by email at info@festivalacadiendeclare.com. It is also possible to reserve tickets online at www.festivalacadiendeclare.ca.

Organizers issued a press release in advance of Friday’s activities, which says, in part:

“Do not miss this occasion to come celebrate the Acadian culture with people from all corners of Acadie during the last day of the 53rd Festival acadien de Clare This party will make you realize exactly how proud the Acadians are of their heritage. The festival is proud to be the French Acadian ‘Signature’ event that reunites Acadians and their friends from here and throughout the world.”
