Fraud charges laid for eBay listing

On Aug. 4 Queens County RCMP charged 18-year-old Richard Allan Mansfield with two counts of Fraud.
They are fraud and mail fraud.

Both charges are a result of an alleged fraudulent eBay listing for $4,100, the victim being a resident in the United States.

Mansfield will be attending Provincial Court in Liverpool on Sept. 16 to enter a plea for both charges.

Mi’kmaq film made in Milton

A film made in Milton that explores the evolution of Canadian democracy from an aboriginal perspective will air on EastLink TV every Wednesday in Aug. at 9 p.m.

Democracy 250: A Mi'kmaq Perspective was commissioned as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the birth of parliamentary democracy in Canada.

During the hour-long film, shot at Mersey Lodge, near Milton, Queens Co., Democracy 250 co-chairs John Hamm and Russell MacLellan discuss Mi'kmaq history, culture and hopes for the future with Mi'kmaq participants Dan Paul, Cathy Martin, Ashley Julien and Jamie Battiste. The film also explores the sophisticated government Nova Scotia's aboriginal community had before the arrival of European settlers.

Cabin break and enter

Queens County RCMP are investigating a break and enter into a cabin in South Brookfield. Between May 15 and July 28, 2008, a cabin, located off of Highway 8 in South Brookfield was broken into and multiple items taken.

Services restored

All Registry of Motor Vehicle services have been restored at Access Nova Scotia Centres across the province.

Driver licences and vehicle registrations expiring in July and August will continue to be extended until Sept. 30. All law-enforcement agencies have been notified of the extension.
