Hundreds turned out for the ninth annual Moonlight Concert in Paradise Saturday evening, despite threats of rain and major downpours in other areas.
Early estimates put the crowd at more than 600 people with more arriving after the Annapolis Big Band warmed up with Strike Up the Band and Tuxedo Junction. Donna-Lynne Holmes took to the stage to perform various Big Band era songs such as Rock-A-Bye Your Baby and Summertime.
An almost cloudless sky promised an enjoyable evening as the sun sank behind the trees of Ellenhurst, the estate of David and Linda Hankinson who host the annual event.
In all, the Annapolis Big Band had a setlist of more than 40 pieces, including such classics as In the Mood, Moon River, Stardust, Ain't Misbehavin', Moonlight Serenade, Georga, and Over the Rainbow.
There was no charge to attend the concert, but donations were accepted with funds raised going to the Paradise Community Hall.
