Tumbleweed at Oakdene August 9
Bear River Music Society continues concert series
Bear Rhythm (the Bear River Music Society) presents Tumbleweed on Saturday, Aug. 9.
These musicians hail from the south shore of Nova Scotia and are becoming very popular in that area’s festivals and local venues. Dick Henneberry, John Adams, and Ian Campbell form Tumbleweed and play and sing a great mix of gospel, jazz, country, and Texas swing.
Bear Rhythm has already hosted various performers over the past six months and all events have been successful. The venue at the Oakdene Center is a transformed classroom that becomes magical at night with candles, soft lighting, and a wonderful, listening audience -- and of course fantastic music.
A highlight is the great refreshments served. This is done as a free will offering with great homemade treats and fair trade coffee.
Doors open at 730 p.m. Admission is only $10/8 for members (memberships available). Students pay only $6 and children under 12 free (and very welcome).
Bear Rhythm is a non-profit organization. It exists to support Maritime music both local and other maritime musicians. All funds raised either go to keep music going or to assist the Oakdene Center by paying them rent for the venue.
