Jam and Teddy Bears at North Hills Museum
Events set for August 8, 10
North Hills Museum (5065 Granville Road) will host a Pot Luck Supper / Jam Session and a Teddy Bear Picnic this coming weekend. The first of the weekend’s two free family events begins on Friday, Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. with a barbecue / pot luck supper and jam session. Participants are asked to bring a cold dish or dessert and the museum staff will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, and soft drinks. At 7 p.m., the Jam Session will begin in the annex where there will be sound amplification for the performers. Participants are reminded to bring a lawn chair.

Jam sessions are a very popular activity in the Annapolis Valley with regular gatherings in Young’s Cove, Port Wade, and Litchfield to name but a few. Many participants who regularly play and sing at various locations will be joining together for this fun evening in Granville Ferry. None of the performers are professionals and all are welcome to join in the fun.

On Sunday, Aug. 10 from 2 to 5 p.m., the museum is hosting a Teddy Bear Picnic. This all-ages event will include displays by Judy Mahar and Wendy Corbin who will also share their expertise with bear-making demonstrations. Special guest Bubbles the Clown will be on hand to entertain the young and young at heart. Bubbles will bring face paint to create "bear faces" on those who wish to really join in the spirit of the day. Inside the museum you can view a display of vintage bears. Guests are also encouraged to bring their much loved teddy bears to join in the fun and games.

The Annapolis Heritage Society manages the North Hills Museum on behalf of the Nova Scotia Museum. The Society’s mandate is to preserve, promote and present the history of the Annapolis Royal region. For information on either of these events please call 902-532-2168.
