A vehicle driven by an elderly female smashed through the rear chain link fence at a new Home Hardware building in Bridgetown July 28 at 3 p.m., drove across parking lot of the NSLC, and stopped after colliding with the rear of building. The driver was injured from air bag deployment. There was major damage to the fence and outside structural damage to the NSLC building. EHS and Bridgetown firefighters responded. The driver was taken to hospital for treatment. There were no charges.

The Annapolis detachment of the RCMP had a fairly quiet week with only 86 calls for assistance. Among these were four false 911s, four false alarms, 14 traffic matters and 11 domestic incidents.
Following are highlights of these calls:

-- July 28 at 2:30 p.m. Police were called to a single vehicle accident on Highway 1 in Brickton, after a large truck went in the ditch. No injuries were reported, but the vehicle was towed.
-- July 28 at 4:11 p.m. Police were called to investigate a possible break and enter into an abandoned business in Centrelea. Investigation revealed the owner has been plagued over the past several months by a series of thefts of copper pipe.
-- July 128 at 4:42 p.m. Police were called to Bear River after a person discovered that a 10’ yellow and orange kayak was stolen.
-- July 28 at 4:08 a.m. A noise complaint in Meadowvale resulted in a police patrol. The individuals were compliant following police presence.
-- July 29 at 11 a.m. Police were called to a residence in Delaps Cove after a break and enter was discovered. The home was severely vandalized. The incident remains under investigation.
-- July 29 at 12:48 p.m. Police received a report of an erratic driver on the Highway 101 near Wilmot. The vehicle was intercepted and police determined that the elderly driver was having difficulties.
-- July 29 at 3:28 p.m. Police were called to Upper Clements Park after a concerned citizen noticed a dog had been left in a hot vehicle. Police contacted the owners through park security. The owners indicated they were monitoring the dog every half hour.
-- July 29 at 4:09 p.m. Police were called to a two-vehicle accident in Middleton. No injuries were reported, but one vehicle was towed.
-- July 30 at 00:58 a.m. Police were contacted by security staff at Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Staff noticed a vehicle was jacked up at a local dealership, and appeared to have the tires stolen. Subsequent investigation found that the vehicle was being repaired by the dealership.
-- July 30 at 9:05 a.m. Staff from a local seniors check-in safety program contacted police after failing to reach a client. A patrol was dispatched and found that the senior was out of town for the day.
-- July 30 at 11:14 a.m. Police were called to a break and enter into the Tourist Bureau at Bear River. Nothing was taken, but the building sustained minor damage.
-- July 30 at 11:12 a.m. Police were called to a two-vehicle accident in Middleton. No injuries were reported, but traffic was tied up for awhile.
-- July 30 at 9:20 p.m. A Carlton Corner resident reported hearing a distressed plane fly over. Police contacted CFB Greenwood who reported that all planes in the area were accounted for. The matter remains unexplained.
-- July 30 at 10:09 p.m. Police received a report of a possible fight in Lawrencetown and responded with a heavy presence. Investigation revealed that individuals were having an animated discussion, but the matter was easily resolved.
-- July 30 at 10:21 P.M. Police were called to Wilmot after a citizen reported seeing a group of suspicious people gathered around a bonfire. Prior to police arrival, a conscientious neighbour had dispersed the group.
-- July 31 at 3:03 p.m. Police were called to a disturbance in Wilmot, after family members were involved in a dispute. The matter was resolved.
-- July 31 at 11:14 p.m. A disturbance complaint in Wilmot resulted in a police patrol. One male was unruly, but complied with police requests.
-- August 2 1:23 p.m. Police were called to a traffic accident after a motorcycle collided with another vehicle. The motorcycle driver was taken to hospital for treatment of a broken shoulder.
-- August 2 at 8:35 p.m. Police, Annapolis Royal Fire Department, and Nova Scotia Power employees were called to Lequille after a broken power line fell across the road.
-- August 3 at 3:15 p.m. A Cornwallis business reported damaged equipment after windows were smashed on a ride-on tractor. The matter remains under investigation.
-- August 3 at 10:47 p.m. Police were called to a disturbance in Nictaux. The matter was resolved without further incident.
