Jerome: The Historical Spectacle by Ami McKay, bestselling author of The Birth House, premiered Aug. 2 and runs to Aug. 17 on the picturesque grounds of Ross Creek Centre for the Arts.

McKay’s inspiration was influenced by a 1899 newspaper article that depicted a mute amputee who mysteriously washed ashore at Sandy Cove, Nova Scotia, in 1963 with world speculation as to who the male was: a lost love, escaped felon, or worse.

The live outdoor theatre performance of Jerome transpires with cast Sue-Leblanc Crawford, Allex McLean and Ben Stone (title role) from Zuppa Circus Theatre plus Katie Swift, Burgandy Code, Ryan Rogerson, Simon Henderson, Graham Percy, Alexis Milligan and Chris O’Neill.

Two Planks and a Passion Theatre artistic director Ken Schwartz will lead the cast through what’s sure to be an incredible unique journey into the past.

A preview occurred Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. Evening performances began Aug. 2 and will run Tuesday through Sunday at 6 p.m. until Aug. 17. Afternoon matinees will be held Aug. 7, 9, 14 and 16. Aug. 5 and 12 are pay-what-you-can performances.

Nice article and helpful information except that he washed up on the shores of Sandy Cove in 1863, not 1963, and the newspaper article from 1899 was an ad in a Yarmouth, N.S. newspaper saying that Jerome would be exhibited that summer in Yarmouth. The announcement did not show any pictures of the man (just in case your readers might think that is what you meant by "depicted").

I went to both Preview and Opening nights, and it was fantastic! Bravo! I encourage everyone to go see this play.
