The Events column is for non-profit listings of events in Digby County. Items may run twice for free before the event’s date. Items can be emailed to info@digbycourier.ca, faxed to 245-6136 or mailed to the Digby Courier at 124 Water St., P.O. Box 670, Digby, N.S., B0V 1A0, attention: Events. Deadline for submitting listings for the upcoming issue is Thursday at 4 p.m.
July 24 - Fiddle champ Scott Woods and his band at DRHS Theatre at 7 p.m. Tickets at most stores in Bear River, Peck’s Auto Glass and at the door. For information, call 467-3333. Fundraiser for Bear River Economic Development Society.

Until Aug. 22 - Remember Loyalist past in a stroll through old cemetery, Church of St. Peter & St. Thomas in Weymouth North with guide Roberta Journeay. Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1:30–2:30 p.m.

July 24 - Annapolis Digby Economic Development Agency annual general meeting at 5 p.m. in boardroom at 86 Atlantic Avenue, Cornwallis Park. Public welcome.

July 24 - Tea Days in Weymouth at Weymouth Historical Society Building from 3–5 p.m. Sponsored by Weymouth Church of Christ (Christmas in July).

July 25 - Scrabble tournament in Digby Curling Club at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds for research for Lou Gerhig’s Disease. For information, call 245-4388 or 245-6508 for tickets.

July 25-26 - Flea market in Parish Hall, Deep Brook, at 9 a.m. Proceeds for Parish of Clements Anglican Church.

July 26 - Marshall family reunion in Savary Park, Plympton, at 1 p.m. for descendants of Howard and Jeanettie Marshall. For information, call Ben at 245-5015 or Roger at 245-4610.

July 26 - Washer toss tournament in Royal Canadian Legion, Digby, at 11 a.m. Call 245-4070 for details.

July 26 - Giant yard sale at old library by Mill Road, corner of Hwy. 1 and Fort Point Road, Weymouth North, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds for Weymouth Waterfront Development.

July 27 - Musical service in Ashmore Baptist Church at 7 p.m., featuring ‘The Heavenly Harmonies’ of Little River. Fellowship time to follow. All welcome.

July 29 - HMCS Acadia presents two sea cadets bands in concert at Digby Centre at 2 p.m., including marching percussion band.

July 30 - Seniors’ party in Digby Curling Club at 11 a.m. Bingo and barbeque, washer toss. Free to seniors, bring own dobbers. For information call seniors’ safety coordinator Dawn Thomas at 245-2579.

July 31 - Tea Days in Weymouth at Weymouth Historical Society Building from 3–5 p.m., sponsored by Anglican Church of St. Peter & St. Thomas.

July 31 - Children 3 to 6 years can listen to Dizzy Giggles the Clown read funny bedtime stories at Clare library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. For information, call the library at 645-3350 or visit www.westerncounties.ca .

Aug. 9 - Bluegrass concert in Bluegrass concert Bear River Firehall at 7 p.m. with three bands from Truro area. Proceeds for Hillsburgh United Church window repairs.

AUGUST - Art exhibits, with works by local artist Teresa Henry at Clare branch library, and landscape paintings of Clare by Isao Sanami-Morrill at Weymouth library. For information, call 837-4596.

TUESDAYS

• Morning fun for babies and caregivers from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Isaiah W. Wilson Memorial Library, Digby. Program presented by Family Resource Centre and Public Health. Phone 245-2163 for information.

• Digby East Fish and Game Association clubhouse at 7 p.m.

WEDNESDAYS

• Mental health support group at Digby General Hospital boardroom at 7:30 p.m. for anyone with an interest in mental health. For information, call John Roswell at 245-4552 or Mike Gaudet at 778-0193.

THURSDAYS

• 603rd Weymouth Royal Canadian Army Cadets meets in Weymouth Consolidated School from 6:30 - 9 p.m. Looking for new members aged 12-18. For information, contact Lieut. Robert Sweeney at (902) 837-7419 after 6 p.m.
