Locke wins provincial junior golf championship
Fifteen-year-old Digby golfer Eric Locke is on a roll, winning the NSGA Junior boys’ championship just a week after clinching the provincial Midget title last week.
Locke, who plays out of both the Digby Pines and Eden Golf and Country Club in West Paradise, won the Junior title Thursday at Eden, which was hosting both the boys and girls junior championships.
He joined the Eden club this spring to become familiar with the tight course and bumpy greens.
A birdie on the 18th hole Thursday gave Locke a round of 69, following previous rounds of 73, 68 and 77. His 287-stroke total was four ahead of the second place finisher.
It was Locke’s first provincial junior title, and he now will represent Nova Scotia at the Canadian junior boys championship Aug. 4-8 in Edmonton.
He won the Pines junior championship in 2007.
