Queens County SeaFest Planning in Full Swing
Planning for the eighth annual Queens County SeaFest is in high gear and includes the launch of a new website and a number of exciting announcements over the next few weeks.

This year’s festival takes place August 22 – 24 at the Brooklyn Marina and Waterfront Park.

“SeaFest has reached a point where it needed its own web presence so we’ve built a site that provides lots of information about the event, showcases past SeaFests and highlights our sponsors and partners.” explained Jean Robinson-Dexter, SeaFest chairperson.

The website address is www.queenscountyseafest.ca .

“We’ve grown so much - we’ve added a Volunteer Coordinator, Stephanie Francis, to our Planning Committee to manage volunteer recruitment and scheduling. We really pleased with the Volunteer Opportunities section of the website – people interested in joining one of our volunteer crews can check out the job descriptions and then complete the online form and let us know how they’d like to be involved.”

SeaFest’s annual Volunteer Sign-Up Social will be held on July 25 at the Brooklyn Marina beginning at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in learning more about the volunteer jobs and what is planned at this year’s event are invited to attend. The evening will include live entertainment, as well.

“We’ll be making a number of announcements shortly including our Friday night concert,” said Robinson-Dexter.

This year’s SeaFest will again feature the Cole Ford Sales Row for Charity on Saturday, August 23 and the Veinot’s Print – True North Salmon Planked Salmon Supper on Sunday.

“We’re pleased to have the Liverpool Lions Club joining us as the sponsor of our Saturday children’s/family activities, as well.”

The fishing derby will continue to be a highlight of the event, with approximately 300 adults and youth expected to participate.
