Caught two

Two men in their thirties were arrested June 26 after a series of break-ins to out buildings in Sheffield Mills.

A family on Black hole Rd. phoned police after finding two barns and a shed broken into overnight. The call to police came in about 8 a.m.

After copper wire

Overnight June 26, a recycling depot on the North River Rd. in South Alton was relieved of 2,000 pounds of copper wire. The theft was discovered when staff came to work in the morning.

A vacant mobile home on the Ward Rd. in Millville was found stripped of copper wire June 25. Police are investigating both incidents.

Gas thief

RCMP have charged a New Minas man with theft after he fled Gaspereau without paying for a full gas tank June 27.

RCMP members were able to catch up to the suspect vehicle on the Middle Dyke Road in New Minas after a good description was received from the owner of the Gaspereau Convenience store, where the alleged theft occurred. Arrested at the scene was the 19-year-old male driver and his two male passengers, who were aged 19 and 25.

Cst. Les Kakonyi advised that the driver will be charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of probation. The investigation is ongoing, he said, and further charges are anticipated after an unrelated break, enter and theft the same day in the Windsor area.

Flasher strikes again

The New Minas flasher struck again for the fourth time June 29 in the parking lot of the County Fair Mall.

The young man, who is about six feet tall, was observed about 2:40 p.m. He was dressed in a black hat, green T-shirt and baggy blue jeans.
