Forest fire still burning in Shelburne County

A forest fire in the Upper Clyde River area of Shelburne County hadn’t grown overnight and fire crews were making progress today.

Natural Resources spokesperson Jennifer Gavin said three helicopters were assisting fire crews at the 80 hectare fire.

“It’s still burning …but it hasn’t grown; which is good news,” she said.

Gavin hesitated to call the fire under control.

“We’re dealing with light winds right now …the worry is if winds pick up.

On Wednesday several homes along the Upper Clyde had been evacuated as a precaution.
