Movie nights set for Centre Square
Get your snacks and cold drinks, folks; starting this week, it’s movie night in Kentville.
It’s a new initiative by the town that involves a movie under the stars at Centre Square July 4 and Aug. 8
Centre Square Movie Nights is Kentville’s first open air cinema and it’ll happen in the heart of the downtown. The family-focused event features a screening of The Spiderwick Chronicles July 4 and Bee Movie Aug. 8.
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted for the local food bank. Gates open at 8 p.m. with a showtime of 9 p.m. or dusk.
Don’t forget your lawn chair and blanket to make the movie experience comfortable and enjoyable.
“Outdoor movie nights are popular across the country,” says Erin Mason, Kentville’s Community Development Coordinator. “Centre Square Movie Nights is a first for Kentville and we’re very lucky to have the support of our generous sponsors, AVR/Magic 94.9 and the Barrett Group, for our first show.”
Kentville Parks and Recreation will provide an onsite canteen featuring a barbecue, snacks and cold drinks. All proceeds will go to support this community event.
In the event of rain, Movie Nights will take place at the Kentville Volunteer Fire Dept. auditorium and this change will be broadcast on AVR/Magic 94.9 by 5 p.m. that day.
