New Minas arson suspect arrested

RCMP in New Minas arrested a 17 yr old male June 20 at his residence in New Minas in relation to a dumpster fire, reported June 19 behind the Empire Theatre on Commercial Street in New Minas. The youth has been charged with one count of arson and will be appearing in youth court in Kentville August 21.

The investigation is continuing into the number of suspicious fires that have occurred over the past several months in the New Minas area.RCMP are continuing to ask for the public's assistance in reporting suspicious activity as well as ensuring that dumpsters are regularly emptied and placed away from buildings.
