Good weekend for Tier 1 soccer teams
U-18, U-14 girls remain undefeated

The June 14-15 weekend was a successful one for Valley United Tier 1 soccer teams, with six wins in eight games against just two losses.
The U-18 girls had the most impressive result, humbling Halifax City 10-0 June 14 in New Minas to remain undefeated at 7-0.
Emily Kehoe had three goals, Ashley Hardman and Emma Young two each and Lauren Landry, Alana Fairfax and Acacia Dunphy one goal apiece. Jillian Cochrane earned the shutout for Valley, which had scored 38 goals in seven games and allowed just three.
The U-14 girls also scored an impressive shutout win, 4-0 over Cole Harbour July 14, then topped Bedford 3-1 the following day to remain undefeated with five wins and three ties in eight games.
Emilie Lake had two goals and Haleigh Fletcher and Tessa Fudge one goal each in the win Saturday. Vanessa Robertson earned the shutout. In the win Sunday over Bedford, Fletcher, Fudge and Emily Nickerson each scored single goals.
U-16 boys beat South Shore
The Valley U-16 boys improved to 2-4 on the season with a 4-3 victory over South Shore June 14. Brandon Patterson had two goals and Charles McNeill and Zach Shaffelburg (back from a soccer development academy in the U.S.) had singles.
The U-16 girls improved to 2-2-2 with a 5-1 win over Bedford, also June 14. Peggy Kenny had two goals (giving her six on the season) and Carly Goodine, Jennifer Poirier and Amy Lockhart scored one goal each.
The U-14 boys split a pair of games, dropping a 2-1 decision to Bedford June 14 before rebounding with a 2-0 win over Dunbrack June 15. Joseph Benedict had the lone goal against Bedford, while Kieran Collins scored both Valley goals against Dunbrack.
The U-18 boys, who did not play on the June 14-15 weekend, remained at 1-2-1, in fifth place in their division.
The Valley Kings Arms senior men’s team fell to 1-3-1 on the season with a pair of 2-0 losses: to Halifax City Coldwell Banker June 14 in Wolfville and to Halifax Dunbrack Bremner’s June 18, also in Wolfville.
