UPDATE: Firefighters continue to fight woods blaze
Firefighters continue to battle a fire in woods in the Bloomsfield area, and Digby fire chief Robbie Morgan is calling now for a manpower change from the department volunteers because of the tiring effort to in heat and heavy brush.
The call to volunteers was transmitted over pagers at 2:19 p.m. by the emergency dispatch centre at the airport, not far from the location of the fire.

The Digby department was dispatched to the fire about 9 a.m. and firefighters were hampered by difficulty reaching the fire and had to use the former railway bed to reach the vicinity of the fire.

The pumper has returned to town at least once for extra water.

Natural Resources personnel and the Brighton and Barton fire department pump truck are also on scene.
