Boat tour highlight of birding weekend

The Musée acadien in West Pubnico will host its fourth annual Tern Festival, the weekend of June 27-29. Weather permitting, a two hour boat tour will take place on Saturday morning, June 28. The boat sail in Lobster Bay (limited to 25 guests) will visit Brothers Island, colony of Roseate Terns, Ram and Argyle Islands, the wind farm and aquaculture site.

A conference of Nova Scotia’s coastal plain flora will be featured for the first time. Local interested people can participate in the Coastal Plain Project coordinator, Patti Green’s conference: Plants on the edge, Habitat threats and you can help save endangered species. Donations accepted.

The birding enthusiast numbers are increasing and a chance to see a Roseate Tern is very attractive to many. “Around a thousand terns are spotted during that time of the season ( May, June, July) including the Common and the Arctic Tern and the endangered Roseate Tern sighting in West Pubnico is what birders came to see.” organizers say.
