This year’s Dorothy Wickwire writing contest entries impressed the judges and saw 18 students take home an award on June 5 at the Dr. John C. Wickwire Academy.

The Dorothy Wickwire Writing Contest is an annual event at the school.

Grades two through six can enter the contest.

“Students may choose any genre, so entries include poetry, fairy tales, short stories, non-fiction and others,” said teacher Annette Burke.

Teachers collect writing entries from the students.

“Three entries are from each class are chosen for judging,” said Burke.

Marcia Harding and Mary Ediger judged the writing entries.

Burke thanks the judges and students who took part in the contest.
