Robbery suspect tries same moves twice

RCMP officers arrested a New Minas man after two armed robberies at a gas bar in the village.
The 28-year-old appeared in provincial court June 9 on two counts of armed robbery and two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon.
The robber displayed a knife at 8:15 a.m. June 7 and took funds from the Kent Co-op gas bar on Commercial St. He fled on foot.
Around 4 p.m. the same day, a lone male entered the gas bar and a second similar robbery took place at the same location.
New Minas officers, including the general investigation section and the police service dog section, were able to identify a suspect by evening. Around 11 p.m., the alleged suspect was arrested at his residence in New Minas.
RCMP Cst. Les Kakonyi said he is well known to members.
