Local man finally faces charges
A Liverpool man who has been escaping various criminal charges for several years, recently turned himself in to police, with a vow to change his life.
Ryan Dagley, 23, pled guilty last Tuesday to nine charges, including assault causing bodily harm and damage to property and was given 12 months in custody, two years probation and a 10-year firearms prohibition from the
judge.
Dagley was supposed to originally appear in court to be sentenced in 2006 but instead fled to out west where he got into more trouble with the law and was sentenced to two years in jail.
It was in jail that Dagley was able to get help by taking courses to help combat his addiction and substance abuse.
Four days and one bus trip after his release, Dagley was back in Liverpool to face his previous charges.
“The judge was impressed,” said Legal Aid Lawyer, Robert Chipman.
She stated in the courtroom, Dagley had grown up and the person standing before her was much more mature and intelligent. Chipman noted as well that this time Dagley had the full support of his family whereas at a previous court date he had been estranged from his family.
Dagley told the court of his plans to get his high school equivalency to help him off of the road of crime and substance abuse.
