RCMP report shows theft of Christmas Daddies collection can from Salvation Army
Theft one of numerous calls police received
During May 12-25, the Yarmouth Town RCMP responded to 113 calls for service. This included five traffic collisions, seven vandalism, 11 false alarms, three shoplifting, nine theft under, five assaults, four causing a disturbance, two arson investigations, two drunk in a public place, eight 911 hang-ups and 12 other Criminal Code.
Some of the calls included the following:
• May 1:36 p.m., two motor-vehicle collision on Willow Street near the post office, no injuries.
•May 12, 7:56 p.m., report of shots being fired on Main Street. Officers made a patrol in vehicles and on foot, no shells or individuals located.
•May 14, 7:36 p.m., request to assist the fire department at a structure fire on MacNeil Avenue. Fire was accidental.
•May 15, 11:43 p.m., 911 call of an assault on Bond Street. Officers attended, located a male in an upstairs apartment that was transported to hospital with series injuries. Three subjects arrested, charges laid.
•May 15, 6:47 p.m., received a call from Parade Street of a theft of a bicycle earlier in day. Mountain bike stolen was red with black handlebars and a black seat.
•May 16, 3:34 p.m., assisted fire department at a house fire on Argyle Street. Fire is being treated as a set fire. Still under investigation.
•May 17, 7:16 a.m., received a call from Ellis Road where a male was found sleeping in a shed. Officers attended, located a man who was in an intoxicated state. He was arrested for breaking into the shed and being drunk in public place. Lodged overnight and released to appear in court on July 15.
•May 19, 12:54 a.m., 911 call of three males fighting inside the Red Knght. Officers attended, matter had been taken care of.
•May 19, 7:35 p.m., received a call from the fire department requesting assistance on Cliff Street at a suspicious fire. While at the scene a second suspicious fire was reported a block away. Still under investigation.
•May 20, 11:20 p.m., received a call of someone trespassing on a property in the centre part of town. Officers attended and located a man hiding behind a barn. Person was arrested for trespassing.
•May 22, 4 p.m., received a call that a man was passed out in a doorway in front of a Main Street business. Officers attended, located an intoxicated man who was lodged in a cell and released the following day.
•May 22, 1:18 p.m., officers responded to a fight that had occurred in a hallway of junior high on Parade Street.
•May 22, 6:03 p.m., a purple, blue and white Supercycle bike was found on a property on Water Street. Bicycle is at the detachment office.
•May 23, 2:18 p.m., the Salvation Army reported that during the morning someone had stolen the donations can for Christmas Daddies from their store.
•May 23, 3:10 p.m., complaint of a theft overnight from an unlocked shed on James Street – a tiller, hedge trimmer stolen.
•May 24, 3:28 a.m., while on patrol officers stopped a vehicle at Starrs Road and Main Street. The driver was under the influence and has been charged with impaired driving with an August court date.
•May 24, 11:20 a.m., received a report of an overnight theft of a four-wheeler from Kempt Street. During neighbourhood inquiries and patrols of the area the ATV was located not far from the residence.
•May 25, 4:20 p.m., motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a car at Hibernia and Main streets, one person taken to hospital.
