Sara LeBlanc was crowned Miss Weymouth at the ceremonies tonight at St. Mary's Bay Academy in St. Bernard.
Chelsea Thibault was chosen 1st princess and Kaitlin Saulnier was 2nd princess at the end of the Miss Weymouth Gala evening. The pageant was the first in Weymouth in a quarter century.
LeBlanc is the 17-year-old daughter of Dean and Betty McCullough of Weymouth. She will be graduating from SMBA next month and has been accepted at Mount Saint Vincent University to pursue a career in teaching.
LeBlanc's biography says she enjoys being involved with sports teams and school committees. She has been a counselor for the Sport Nova Scotia after-school program at Weymouth Consolidated School.
"I feel really honored to be crowned Miss Weymouth," said LeBlanc. "The whole experience has been wonderful and I will do my best to represent Weymouth during the coming year."
Master of ceremonies Stephen Barr introduced the princesses and asked them to answer two random questions during the evening. The princesses entertained the audience with a thrift store fashion show and a choreographed dance routine. Sara and Jeremy Outhouse provided several musical selections during the program.
Judges for the Miss Weymouth Gala were Randall Amero from Weymouth, Wanda Pulley from Digby and Merrell Moorehead from Weymouth North.
"The three of us enjoyed the experience of being the Gala judges," said Amero. "It was a hard job choosing tonight's Miss Weymouth. All the girls were deserving."
Gala organizers Leanne Murphy, Rosanna Manzer and Becky Barr were delighted with the evening's ceremonies and conveyed congratulations to each girl that participated.
"All the girls did an excellent job this evening and we were proud of each one," said Manzer "Sara will do a wonderful job as the village's first Miss Weymouth."
The whole Gala was a great success and the support from all the sponsors made it possible for every participant to receive wonderful prizes, added Murphy.
