The Valley Voices chorus invites the public to attend the Atlantic Region Area Chorus Contest this coming weekend. The area convention and contest will take place at Acadia University.
The chorus is ready to host their area event June 5-8 in Wolfville. Six quartets will compete at 12:30 p.m. and eight choruses perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 6 at Convocation Hall.
“The chorus is hoping folks in the area will come out and cheer them on and enjoy the a cappella, four-part harmony, barbershop-style singing of all the participants,” said Gail Symonds.
Admission is $10. Tickets can be obtained from the Acadia box office or at the door of Convocation Hall at the Acadia campus.
Valley Voices is a women’s chorus that meets in Kentville under the direction of Theresa Weatherbee. Valley Voices is a chapter of Harmony, Inc. This chapter has been meeting weekly for the past 27 years.
Over the past year, the chorus has participated in about 12 performances.
Morgan Davis in concert
Popular performer Morgan Davis is giving a concert Saturday, June 7 at 8 p.m. in East Margaretsville. Tickets are $15. Reserve at evergreentheatre@gmail.com or 902-825-6834.

Summer season
Fundy Film's summer fare began June 1 and continues every week with one screening each Sunday evening at 8 p.m.
All tickets are $8. The popular Six-Packs will be available again in September for the autumn series.
The film society will screen The Bank Job: set in 1971 London, this film is a true story of a heist gone wrong that starts as a gritty, hole-in-the-wall affair. What the break-in blokes don’t realize is the targeted safety deposit boxes contain a treasure trove of dirty secrets that touch every sector of British society, right up to the Royal Family.
It will screen at the Al Whittle Theatre, Wolfville, Sunday, June 8 at 8 p.m. Tickets ($8) are available 30 minutes before screening.

The book, which is written in a down-to-earth way by Karen Forrest, shares her spiritual journey from carrying a C-7 rifle as a soldier in the Canadian Armed Forces to working with a shield of light.
Forrest has received extensive spiritual training. With a background as a retired mental health nursing officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, Forrest counsels and has now become a popular author.
Forrest will offer a book signing at The Inside Story at Greenwood Mall Saturday, June 14 from 2–6 p.m. and at Coles in New Minas Saturday, June 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Andy Flinn is promising an outrageous musical event for Night Kitchen coming up Saturday, June 7.
After this Night Kitchen, the popular event will take a break until August. Tickets are $8 and the show starts at 8 p.m.
Carew in concert
Stan Carew and the Magpies will be in concert Sunday June 8 at 3 p.m. in Hall's Harbour.
It will take place at the Fundy View Community Centre.
