There’s a “party” at the Astor Theatre

After spending months in rehearsal, the South Queens Junior High School is bringing a play called “life of the party” to life on stage at the Astor Theatre.

“It’s basically a play about a family that just moved to town and an unpopular daughter who’s being taken advantage of by the cool guy in school so that she’ll throw the after prom party at her house,” said teacher Sarah Tutty. “The party turns into a disaster, police and all.”

The cast consists of 17 members while the crew totals over 30.

SQJHS tries to put on a play every year, she added.

Tutty described is as a “light hearted family comedy about teenagers.”

Rehearsal began in February.

The first show will take place June 3 solely for the Dr. John C. Wickwire Academy students at 10 a.m.

The students at SQJHS will see the show June 4 at 10 a.m.

The public can see the show on June 4 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $5 for children and $8 for adults.

Tutty said, tickets cannot be bought in advance.
