Thinking about tossing your hat in the ring for the upcoming municipal election, but don’t know where to start?
The County of Kings is holding information sessions so people can learn the ropes and make an informed decision about running for municipal office.
Municipal Clerk Ann Longley says the sessions are free of charge and no pre-registration is required: you just have to show up, and everyone is welcome.
The first session was set for county council chambers in the Municipal Complex in Kentville Wednesday, May 28 at 7 p.m. The second is slated for the Aylesford fire hall Thursday, June 5 at 7 p.m.
Longley said there would be presentations and handouts providing a general overview of councillor roles and responsibilities, including committees, organizations and bylaws. There will also be a general overview of the election process, including qualifications, boundary changes and more.
For information, contact Longley at 690-6133 or alongley@county.kings.ns.ca.
