Habitat for Humanity to build on Amherst St. in Liverpool
Since completing their first build in Bridgewater, Habitat For Humanity’s South Shore Chapter is moving into Liverpool to build a house for another family.

Having two properties to choice from, Habitat for Humanity will build the 900 to 1000 square foot bungalow on Amherst Street.

“What we need is a lot of gifts in kind and they come in professional services such as plumbing and electrical work,” said Rev. Paul Jensen. “Or in materials like in building materials.”

Being a non-profit organization, Habitat For Humanity’s goal is to provide housing in partnership with families in need.

Jensen along with three other Habitat For Humanity members made a presentation to council the May 20 council meeting.

The goal is to start building by late summer 2009.

“We really need folks to be a part of our team here to make this successful at this stage.” said Jensen. “We need people right now from Queens County to step up and join our board and stand on committees.”

Roles include site coordinator; build coordinator, faith relation’s person to liaison with churches, as well as other roles.

The family who will live in the house will be picked in the coming months, he added.

Information sessions will take place soon.

A fundraiser for the Habitat For Humanity South Shore Chapter will take place June 17 at the Osprey Ridge Golf Course in Bridgewater.

To volunteer or for more information call Rev. Paul Jensen at 902-543-4106 or visit www.habitatsouthshore.ca.
