Thinking about tossing your hat in the ring for the upcoming municipal election, but don’t know where to start?
The County of Kings is holding information sessions for potential candidates so people can learn the ropes and make an informed decision about running for municipal office.
Municipal Clerk Ann Longley said the sessions are free of charge and no pre-registration is required. You just have to show up, and everyone is welcome.
The first session takes place at the county council chambers in the Municipal Complex in Kentville Wednesday, May 28 at 7 p.m. The second is slated for the Aylesford Fire Hall Thursday evening, June 5 at 7 p.m.
Longley said there would be presentations and handouts providing a general overview of councillor roles and responsibilities, including committees, organizations and bylaws. There will also be a general overview of the election process, including qualifications, boundary changes and more.
For more information, contact Longley at 690-6133 or by e-mail at alongley@county.kings.ns.ca.
