Yarmouth Town RCMP report
During the period of April 28 to May 11, the Yarmouth town RCMP detachment received 116 calls for service. This included: 10 theft under $5,000, three Mental Health Act investigations, two break and enters into businesses, eight 911 hang-ups, eight mischief, three motor vehicle collisions, nine false alarms, seven assaults, seven causing disturbances, three shoplifting, five drunk in a public place and 11 other Criminal Code.

The following a summary of some of the calls:

•April 28, 11:09 a.m., Boston Pizza reported the theft of a patio umbrella.

•April 28, 12:39 p.m., report that sometime over the weekend at V&R Traps a fence had been damaged.

•April 28, received a call of mischief from over the weekend: two mailboxes ripped off residences and one clothesline torn down in the Park Street/Albert Street area.

•April 28, 4:56 p.m., a theft of computer monitors reported by Atlantic Electronics Limited on Water Street.

•April 28, 7:22 p.m., while working out at the gym a person had their wallet stolen from an unlocked locker. The RCMP cautions people about leaving valuables in an unlocked locker.

•April 29, 4:27 p.m., three-vehicle collision on Main Street in front of KFC, no injuries.

•April 30, 9:05 a.m., report of an overnight theft of a purple, 15-speed mountain bike from a Pleasant Street residence.

•April 30, 4 p.m., report of two bikes having been stolen over the previous two nights from Kirk Street. The RCMP reminds the public to keep their bicycles locked and/or store them.

•May 1, 9:40 a.m., received a call about an overnight break and enter in the 400-block of Main Street. A laptop computer was taken.

•May 1, 12:57 p.m., received a report of possible counterfeit bills being passed at a Main Street business, a $5 and $20 sent to RCMP lab in Ottawa.

•May 3, 1:57 a.m., while on patrol an officer located an adult male walking down the middle of Main Street without a shirt on. Man arrested for being drunk in a public place, lodged in cell, release in the morning and charged under the Liquor Control Act.

•May 3, 2:13 p.m., received a call via 911 of two dogs having attacked a male in a residence on Main Street, officers attended.

•May 3, 11:52 p.m., received a complaint of a noisy party on Tooker Street, officers attended and spoke to the people concerned.

•May 4, 12:45 a.m., received a call via 911 of a fight in progress on Argyle Street involving approximately 15 to 20 youths. Officers attended, located only four males who were spoken to.

•May 4, 3:04 a.m., while on patrol an officer located a male who was in an intoxicated state and urinating on the wall of a Main Street business. Person was arrested, lodged, charged under the Liquor Control Act and released in the morning.

•May 6, 9:59, received a call from the Yarmouth Fire Department seeking assistance at a vehicle fire at 580 Main Street. A 1992 Toyota Camry had caught on fire, officers provided traffic assistance, the fire department determined there was no signs of foul play.

•May 6, 4:54 p.m., male shoplifter in custody at Atlantic Superstore.

•May 6, 5:23 p.m., report of a theft of satellite dish that had occurred within the last 24 hours. A Bell Express View dish was taken from a residence on Kempt Street, still under investigation.

•May 8, 3:09 p.m., report of vandalism to a vehicle that was parked at the Canadian Tire parking lot overnight. The vehicle had been scratched with a key.

•May 8, 5:45 p.m., report of a theft of bicycle from a residence on Belaire Court, a silver and red 18-speed mountain bike.

•May 8, 6:50 p.m., received a request to assist the Rescue Coordination Centre with respect to a fishing vessel that was stuck in the mud in the Yarmouth Harbour just south of the ferry terminal.

•May 8, 10:07 p.m., officers dispatched to a 911 hang-up at a centretown residence. Officers spoke to homeowner who advised he was trying to call a taxi but dialed the wrong number. Due to his high level of intoxication, the officers advised him not to use the phone for the rest of the night.

•May 9, 3:06 a.m., while on patrol officers observed a 17-year-old male sleeping in the gazebo on Beacon Street. He was charged for underage drinking.

•May 9, 1:06 p.m., overnight vandalism at Tabitha Centre reported, front door windows broken.

•May 9, 3:25 p.m., received a report via 911 of an assault causing taking place on Forest Street near William Street, a crowd of youth were assaulting an individual. One young person was arrested and will appear in court in July.

•May 10, 4:47 p.m., report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Main and John streets. A male stepped out between two cars to cross the street, wasn’t using a crosswalk. Received minor injuries.

•May 11, 2:11 p.m., received a report of vandalism from Beacon United Church involving graffiti on the church.
