Blockade continues at Inverness harbour
INVERNESS, N.S. — Fishermen were preparing for talks with federal government officials as their blockade of Inverness harbour continued on the weekend.

Four New Brunswick fishing boats with permits to fish crab remain trapped in the harbour as a result of the blockade, which Inverness area fisherman began Thursday as a means of protesting being shut out of the crab fishery.

Inverness fisherman Lawrence MacLellan said Saturday morning that their peaceful protest was continuing and they were looking forward to a meeting with Cape Breton Canso MP Rodger Cuzner and a meeting with Department of Fisheries and Oceans officials set for Monday. Other fisherman from surrounding ports were expected to join the blockade for a rally Sunday.

MacLellan said they want something in writing granting them access to the crab fishery.
