Hands-on experience part of West Nova Scotia Regiment open house at Camp Aldershot
The West Nova Scotia Regiment observed Italy Day at Camp Aldershot on Sunday. The events included an open house with recruitment, kit and weapons displays. Visitors had an opportunity to experience the firing range, watching soldiers engaged in personal weapons training and getting to fire C7 service riffles at targets from 75 metres. There was a memorial service for fallen comrades at 1 p.m. Major George Thomson said the majority of the regiment’s action during the Second World War took place in Italy, and therefore their regiment day is called Italy Day.
