MacKinnon quadruplets all together now at family home in Kingston
One hundred days after being born at the IWK Health Centre, the last of the MacKinnon quadruplets are home.

Alex and Ben finally joined their sisters Julia and Morah at their home in Greenwood this past Saturday, May 3, 2008. The family is together for the first time since Mom

(Christa) was admitted to the hospital in December 2007.

The family issued the following statement through the IWK Health Centre Public Relations office Tuesday, May 6.

“It certainly has been worth all of the trips back and forth and the time spent apart to get to where we are today. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the amazing support of our family and friends, and the staff and volunteers of Ronald McDonald House Atlantic. It certainly goes without saying that we owe so much to the incredible medical staff of the IWK Health Center. Thank you all.

“Now the hard work begins. The shift schedule is constantly evolving until we get into a bit of a rhythm. There are going to be some long days and some sleepless nights, but we are looking forward to this as another small victory for our family.

“We are already receiving help rocking the babies from friends and volunteers. We also have a wonderfully talented and motivated family friend, Wanda Bullerwell, who has been overseeing our fundraising efforts with the support of friends and neighbours. Without her hard work on behalf of our family we could very well have been lost.

“Fundraising is still continuing for the babies. To the small group of family members and volunteers who have been making preparations, sometimes costly, for the arrival of the babies to their new home, thank you. To find out more about the fundraising efforts or how you can help, you can e-mail us at: mackinnon_quads@ns.sympatico.ca. You can also write or send a donation to: MacKinnon Family: P.O. Box 641 Kingston, N.S., B0P 1R0 or, drop of a donation at any branch of the Valley Credit Union to the account for the MacKinnon Quadruplets. Thank you for your support.”

The release was signed: Christa, Joe, Matthew, Julia, Morah, Alex and Ben - the MacKinnon family.
