Upcoming closures of Roseway Hospital Emergency Department
The Shelburne Roseway Hospital emergency department will be closed on the following days in May and June:
MAY
• Thursday, May 8, from 8 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Friday, May 9
• Thursday, May 15, from 8 a.m. to 8 a.m. Friday, May 16
• Monday, May 26, from 8 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 27
JUNE
• Friday, June 13, from 8 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday, June 14
• Friday, June 20, from 8 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday, June 21
• Friday, June 27, from 8 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday, June 28
The closures are a result of physician unavailability, and more closures are anticipated later this summer. South West Health is continuing to try to recruit new physicians to the area.
Shelburne County residents requiring emergency services should visit Yarmouth Regional Hospital Emergency Department (60 Vancouver St., Yarmouth) or Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.
The public is reminded to dial 911 in the case of an emergency. An ambulance can only be dispatched by calling 911.
When you go to any emergency department, you should always bring your Nova Scotia Health Card, a list of your medications and a list of allergies. This will help physicians and nurses provide better care to you. There are things that you can do to stay healthy and to help avoid a trip to the Emergency Department, such as; wear your seat belt and drive safely, wear safety equipment at work and play, don’t smoke, wash your hands often and don’t drink and drive.
