Digby General emergency room closures for May
Lack of physician coverage will close the Digby General Hospital emergency department for 10 days in May.
South West Health issued a schedule this afternoon of closed hours:
• May 1, Thursday, from 8 a.m. until Friday, May 2 at 8 a.m.
• May 2, Friday, from 8 p.m. until Saturday, May 3 at 8 a.m.
• May 5, Monday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• May 8, Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• May 12, Monday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• May 15, Thursday, from 8 a.m. until Friday, May 16 at 8 a.m.
• May 19, Monday, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
• May 22, Thursday, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
• May 26, Monday, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
• May 29, Thursday, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
South West Health said it continues to try to recruit physicians to the area.
Digby County residents who need emergency services during the hours of closure should visit Yarmouth Regional Hospital Emergency Department, Annapolis Community Health Centre in Annapolis Royal, Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton, or Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville.
The public is reminded that in the case of an emergency an ambulance can only be dispatched by calling 911.
