The future of the Digby ferry service remains unclear but incumbent Saint John mayor Norm MacFarlane has told CHSJ News it's an issue that will need attention after the current municipal elections.
All 20 municipal units in western Nova Scotia are being urged to come up with some cash to help preserve the Saint John - Digby service but Macfarlane says we won't be asking Saint John suburbs to pony up any dough anytime soon.
MacFarlane says the issue is in federal cabinet. He adds the ferry is an absolute
must for the area and after the elections an action plan must be put in place to address the continuation of the service.
The current deal with Bay Ferries and the federal government expires in January, 2009.
