Kings-Edgehill, Avon View big winners at Wolfville high school rugby jamboree

April 26 was a big day for Valley high school rugby.
All 14 VHSRL teams - seven male and seven female - gathered at Acadia University for a full day of play: 12 games – six boys’ and six girls’ contests; with all counting in the league standings.
When all the smoke had cleared, the day’s big winners were from Hants County: both Kings-Edgehill teams, the Avon View boys and Avon View ‘A’ girls, went 2-0.
The Horton boys and girls each split a pair of games. The Central Kings boys won once while the C.K. girls lost once. The Middleton and Digby boys each went 0-2 while. on the girls’ side, Avon View ‘B’ split its games. Middleton went 0-2 and West Kings 0-1.
In boys’ action, Kings-Edgehill shut out Middleton 12-0, Avon View blanked West Kings 24-0, Horton defeated Digby 12-0, Avon View humbled Middleton 47-3, Kings-Edgehill nipped Horton 6-5 and Central Kings topped Digby 19-0.
On the girls’ side, Kings-Edgehill blanked Middleton 35-0, Avon View ‘A’ edged West Kings 5-0, Horton shut out Avon View ‘B’ 5-0, Avon View ‘A’ blanked Middleton 32-0, Kings-Edgehill defeated Horton 24-0 and Avon View ‘B’ topped Central Kings 12-0.
Entering play April 29, Kings-Edgehill led the girls’ standings with a perfect 4-0 record, having scored 101 points and allowed none in recording four straight shutouts. Avon View ‘A’ was next at 4-1, Horton at 3-1, West Kings at 2-2, Middleton at 1-4 and Central Kings winless at 0-5. Avon View ‘B’, whose points do not count toward provincials, had won two games and lost three.
The boys’ standings had Avon View on top with a 5-0 record, 138 points scored and just 21 allowed. Kings-Edgehill was at 4-1, Horton at 3-1, West Kings at 2-2, Central Kings at 2-3, Middleton at 1-4 and Digby at 0-5.
